We discuss the United States' strategy of being the global leader in military spending. There is an enormous gap between US military spending and that of other countries like China. US military spending in 2010 was around $693.5 billion, while China's was around $120 billion, making US spending about 6 times that of the next largest spender globally. The US also accounted for about 43% of total global military spending in 2010, a staggering proportion. This astronomical level of spending ensures US dominance over the world's seas, skies, and even outer space.
