I discuss the expected negative and positive impact of military spending on the national economy from a theoretical perspective. I also question the outcome of war on the American economy. I will analyze the findings presented in a study titled 'The Effects of War on the American Economy', in which the institute analyzed the overall effects of government spending in five major wars: World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Iraq and Afghanistan War. The study examines the impact of the general budget, the process of financing government spending in war, and the effects of consumption, including taxes and inflation.
